MetLife Foundation

MetLife Foundation

Giving back to the places where MetLife operates helps foster strong connections between the company, employees, and communities. MetLife Foundation positively impacts communities through  grants for financial health and well-being, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), youth and education, community improvement, disaster relief, and arts and culture. Such grants help people manage household budgets, recover from the unexpected, build short-term savings and stability, and plan for the future.

MetLife Foundation supports communities through grants that support and uplift low- and moderate-income people around the world to build a more confident future. MetLife Foundation partners with nonprofit organizations and social enterprises to close the equity and wealth gap, build financial health and inclusion, and support small business owners—all issues that continue to be exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. These focus areas are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, business priorities, and 2030 DEI Commitments.

SINCE 1976

MetLife Foundation has contributed over $900 million to strengthen communities.

MetLife Foundation is committed to Racial Equity

Where we focus:

  • Economic Inclusion: Empowers young people and adults to develop workforce skills and an entrepreneurial mindset to be competitive in a new economy, establish a career, and earn family sustaining wages.
  • Financial Health: Provides grants to nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping people manage household budgets and grow their incomes. Our initiatives help people to save and plan for the future, creating more certainty in their lives, and to recover from the unexpected.
  • Resilient Communities: Positively impacts communities by expanding access to wellness resources, supports a more resilient planet through climate-focused grants, and support for arts and culture.

Employee Volunteerism

Employee engagement and volunteerism underpins MetLife Foundation’s  focus areas and overarching strategy to help low and moderate income people build a more confident future.  MetLife employees live our purpose by lending their business skills and enthusiasm to their communities through support for education, the environment, and financial health, as well as through pro bono initiatives.
